ManyChat alternative? Check the pricing model first

Two cost curves diverging as volume grows

If you are searching for a ManyChat alternative, you are usually searching because of one of three things: the bill grows as your audience grows, the replies feel robotic, or you have outgrown Instagram and Facebook and your tools have not.

We build BABAV, which competes with ManyChat. So read this the way you would read any comparison written by a rival — check the claims. We have tried to make that easy by being specific about what we do not do, which is the part most comparison pages leave out.

The difference that actually shows up on your invoice

Most tools in this category, ManyChat included, meter on active contacts — how many unique people your bot talked to in a billing period. BABAV meters on actions — how many things the agent actually did.

That sounds like a detail. It is the whole cost curve.

Under contact pricing, a viral week is expensive. Ten thousand people comment on a reel, your contact count jumps, and you move up a tier — whether those contacts bought anything or not. Your bill tracks your reach.

Under action pricing, that same viral week costs whatever the replies cost. Ten thousand people who each get one reply cost the same as one thousand people who each get ten. Your bill tracks your work.

Neither is universally better. If you have a large dormant audience and low message volume, contact pricing can be cheaper. If your audience is small but talkative, or spiky, action pricing usually wins. Work out which shape you are before you switch — that single question will tell you more than any feature table.

What BABAV charges

A reply costs $0.02. Your plan includes $25 of usage every month before you pay a cent of overage — roughly 1,250 replies. Past that you set a hard spending cap the agent cannot exceed. You are billed only when an action completes successfully; a failed send is not billed.

Two smaller mechanics matter more than they sound:

  • If someone fires three messages at you in ten seconds, the agent waits, reads all three, and sends one reply that addresses everything. That is one charge, not three — and it also reads far more like a person.
  • If you jump into the conversation and answer yourself, the AI reply already in flight is cancelled and nothing is billed. (Honest limit: this human-takeover detection currently works on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp only.)

Where the replies come from

This is the second reason people go looking. Keyword-triggered flows are excellent at exactly one job — “comment LINK and I’ll DM you” — and ManyChat genuinely owns that motion as a category. If that is your whole funnel, you may not need to switch at all.

The gap shows up on the second message. When someone replies to the automated DM with an actual question, a keyword flow has nowhere to go. BABAV generates each reply from your knowledge base and the full conversation history, in your voice, and keeps that context across the whole thread.

Channels

BABAV connects twelve channels: Threads, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and Gmail are the six your plan is priced on (pick between one and six), plus TikTok, X, Telegram, Discord, LinkedIn and Twitch bundled free. One brain, one knowledge base, one memory across all of them — an email and an Instagram DM from the same person are the same conversation.

One honest caveat: Threads auto-replies are pending Meta’s approval of our permissions. Threads reads and insights work today; automatic replying does not. If Threads is your reason for switching, wait for us.

What BABAV does not do

If any of these matter to you, we are the wrong tool and we would rather you found that out here than after paying us.

  • No shared team inbox. No ticket assignment, no internal notes, no collision detection between two teammates, no audit of who replied. There is one login per brand. If you have a support team, buy a helpdesk.
  • No commerce actions. BABAV cannot look up an order, issue a refund, check inventory or edit a subscription. Ecommerce-native tools do this properly and we do not do it at all.
  • No SOC 2. Not yet. If your procurement process requires it, we will fail it.
  • No published resolution rate. Some competitors advertise one. We do not compute one, so we are not going to quote a number we cannot stand behind.

Who BABAV is actually for

Solo founders and creator-led brands, roughly one to ten people, who sell through DMs and email, are active on more than two platforms, and are losing conversations because nobody got to them in time.

If you are one person running Instagram comment funnels and nothing else, a cheaper single-channel tool will serve you better. If your messages arrive across six places at once and you are answering them at midnight, that is the problem we built this for.
