Extension privacy.

The two extensions

BABAV makes two browser extensions. Each is its own install, and both connect to your BABAV account with the same connection key. They are available for Chrome and Firefox, and as Safari apps for Mac, iPhone and iPad (the Safari apps contain the same extension and collect nothing more).

• BABAV Finder finds public business contact details (email addresses, phone numbers and social profile links) on web pages, and saves the ones you choose as leads.
• BABAV Compose writes draft replies in your own voice inside message boxes, and tidies text you typed when you press Tab.

Finder: what it reads, and when

• When you ask. By default Finder reads a page only when you open its popup or press one of its buttons (This page, Extract, Discover).
• Scanning as you browse is off until you say yes. The first time you connect, Finder asks whether it may read the pages you visit. If you say yes, it reads the address, title and text of each page you open to spot contact details. You can switch this off at any time in its Settings (“Auto-scan every page”).
• Extract. If you give Finder a list of links, it reads those pages in the background, because you asked it to.

Phone numbers Finder saves are contact details only. BABAV never texts a number because Finder found it.

Compose: what it reads, and when

Compose does nothing on a page until you press its ✦ tab beside a message box, your draft hotkey, or Tab in a message box. Only then, and only for that box, it reads:

• the conversation you are replying to (the messages visible in that thread, and who wrote them), and
• the text you have typed in that box.

Images in the conversation are read only if you turn on photo reading in its settings, which is off by default. Compose places the draft in the box for you to edit, send or discard. It never sends a message for you: auto-send is off by default, and public replies need a second, separate switch.

Sites and fields they never read

Both extensions are blocked from banking and financial, health, and government sites. There they read nothing and offer nothing. BABAV’s own site and local/development sites are excluded too. These exclusions are built in and cannot be switched off.

Webmail (Gmail, Outlook and similar): Finder never reads it. Compose works there, because replying to email is one of its main jobs, but only when you press its tab, hotkey or Tab in a reply box.

Compose never reads or changes password, email, phone, address, payment or search fields.

What they send, and where

• Finder sends the contact details you save and the address of the page they came from. If you turned on scanning as you browse, it also sends the address, title and text of the pages you visit so contacts can be found for you.
• Compose sends the conversation and your typed text described above, so a draft can be written in your voice.

Everything goes over an encrypted connection, with your connection key, to your own BABAV account only. Drafts are written by the AI provider named in our main Privacy Policy. Nothing is sent to advertisers, data brokers or analytics networks.

What they keep in your browser

• Your connection key and brand name, your settings, and (for Finder) your answer about scanning as you browse.
• Finder also keeps a short list of recently read pages (the latest 800) so the same page is not read twice, and the progress of an Extract job so it can resume. This stays in your browser and is cleared when the extension updates.

Permissions, explained

• Access to websites (both): contact details and message boxes can be on any site, so the extensions must be able to run wherever you browse or write, minus the blocked sites above.
• scripting (Finder): to read the page you are on when you run one of its tools.
• storage (both), unlimited storage (Finder): to remember your key, settings and results, including a long Extract job.
• alarms (both): to wake up briefly to keep counts and settings in step with your dashboard, and to resume an interrupted Extract job.

What they never do

• They never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
• They never show ads or change the pages you visit, beyond Compose putting a draft into the box you asked it to.
• They do not log your keystrokes or build a browsing profile of you.
• They do not train AI models on the contacts you capture.

Retention & deletion

Leads you save live in your BABAV account and are yours to export or delete. Compose keeps the drafts you asked for and how you changed them, so it can learn how you write. You can see how much it has learned and erase it any time in Settings. Deleting your BABAV account removes everything, including data from both extensions (see Data Deletion). Removing an extension deletes what it kept in your browser.
