Finder extension privacy.

Last updated: July 2026. The free BABAV Finder extension pulls public contact details into your own account. Exactly what it touches, what it skips, and what it never does.

What the extension is

BABAV Finder is our free browser extension. As you browse, it finds publicly visible contact details on the pages you view — emails, phone numbers, and social handles — and lets you save them as leads in your own BABAV account. It also offers optional compose-assist: an AI-drafted reply you can accept in a text box.

Auto-scan is a setting you control. By default Finder can scan pages as you browse so contacts are ready when you want them. You can turn Auto-scan every page off anytime in the extension's Settings, and still capture contacts manually by opening the popup on a page.

What it accesses

  • The text and links of pages you visit, to detect public contact details.
  • The contact details you choose to save (email, phone, handle) and the source page URL.
  • Your BABAV sign-in, so saved leads go to the right account.

It looks for public business contact info on the page. It does not log your browsing history or build a profile of you.

Sensitive sites it never reads

Finder is deliberately blocked from an entire class of sites. On banking and financial, webmail, health, and government pages, it never reads the page or its contacts and never offers compose-assist. BABAV's own site and local/development hosts are excluded too. This exclusion is built into the extension and cannot be switched off.

What it sends, and where

When you save a lead, the extension sends those captured details to BABAV's own backend over an encrypted connection and stores them against your account, so they appear in your dashboard's Contacts. That is the only data it transmits — it does not send anything to third-party advertisers, brokers, or analytics networks.

Permissions, explained

  • activeTab & scripting — to read the page you are on and extract contacts.
  • storage (and unlimited storage) — to keep you signed in and remember your settings and results.
  • alarms — to schedule light background work such as syncing.
  • host access — to talk to BABAV's backend, and to run the contact scanner on the sites you browse (minus the excluded sensitive sites above).

What it never does

  • It does not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
  • It does not show ads or inject content into the pages you visit.
  • It does not read the sensitive sites listed above.
  • It does not train AI models on the contacts you capture.

Account-gated & secure

Finder works only when you are signed into BABAV. Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored against your account under the same protections described in our main Privacy Policy.

Retention & deletion

Captured leads live in your BABAV account and are yours to export or delete. Removing a contact in the dashboard deletes it. Deleting your BABAV account removes everything, including data captured by the extension — see Data Deletion.
